A graduate of the third level of university studies in the study program "Management of security systems" of the study department "Security Sciences" will acquire the theoretical knowledge, practical abilities and skills necessary for independent scientific and creative activity in the issue of security and security management systems. He masters scientific methods and approaches in the field of security sciences, research and evaluation of various impacts on the overall level of security of the protected interest, scientific research and brings new approaches to ensuring security. In line with the security needs of civil society, he is able to independently carry out applied research on the security situation and propose methods for its optimal solution based on interprofessional and international team cooperation. He can apply a systemic approach with an emphasis on theoretical and empirical research methods, optimally transform the scientific knowledge of security theory into the professional activity of security subjects and into the didactic system of their education. On the basis of scientific methods of knowledge and research, it proposes conceptual and system solutions for increasing the safety of society.
A student of the first year of the study program "Management of security systems" of the field of study "Safety Sciences" in the third year completes compulsory subjects and a specified number of compulsory optional subjects, in the second and third years he takes a dissertation exam, prepares and defends a dissertation.: The acquired education fulfills the requirements national qualification framework at level 8.

He mastered scientific approaches corresponding to the international level of knowledge to independent, creative and complex research of phenomena and processes, methods of scientific work and legal and ethical aspects of work with a focus on solving security problems. He masters the theoretical and methodological starting points of research, scientific methods and research techniques with an orientation to the research of the security situation, sources of risks and ways of reducing them while protecting protected interests. Knows and understands the interaction of security sciences with other related disciplines. He has comprehensive knowledge of the current state and forecasts of the development of security services, managing the security of protected interests, and the concepts of security development in the conditions of the Slovak Republic and on a transnational scale. He understands the phenomena and processes of modeling and simulation, the use of information, quality management and forecasting the development of safety and management systems. He knows the economic and technical factors determining the operation of security systems and has mastered the methods of influencing them.
Skills:
It uses scientific research methods, new, modern interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary complex approaches to solving security problems. He knows how to actively acquire information and new knowledge, analyze it, evaluate it and use it in solving security issues and optimizing security management systems, both in theory and in practice in the field. Can apply knowledge and creatively improve and bring innovations in theory, research and practice within the field. He has the skills to identify new world knowledge in primary and related fields and integrate them for the further development of security sciences. He has the ability to formulate a scientific problem and present the results of research to the professional public as well as to laymen. At work, he effectively uses legal security regulations and standards, scientific forensic methods and the management of financing security systems in the practice of a security worker. He has the skills to model and design technical systems for the protection of persons and property, to use operational and system analysis procedures, and statistical methods in risk management.
Competencies:
He is able to prepare, initiate and implement the solution of complex activities, based on his own formulation of goals, definition of the necessary means and usable methods appropriate to the development in the field for solving the problem or project. He can objectively assess and optimize his work in a wider context. Can understand the development of security on a long-term scale taking into account social, ethical, environmental, geopolitical, technological and various other anthropogenic and natural influences. He is able to work as a member and as a leader of a research team in solving projects and research tasks in the field of security sciences and is ready to present the results of his scientific work at the international level. He is capable of working in the education process, he is able to cooperate with the authorities of the state administration, self-government and civil society in solving security issues, and he is able to systematically manage the activities of higher organizational units in the area of security. Can solve independently or participate in the creation and processing of conceptual, methodological and other safety documents.

Place of teaching and technical security:
Teaching takes place at the USM headquarters at Košťová 1, in Košice. Students have the opportunity to park directly in the renovated school grounds. Modern lecture halls and teaching rooms are complemented by an academic library with a study room, rest areas, a buffet, a gymnasium, a dressing room, computer rooms, laboratories and other purpose-built spaces. The entire object is covered by a Wi-Fi network.
In addition to the academic library with 40,000 library units, students also have access to a Microsoft Office 365 student account, the Moodle system for self-study, distribution of study materials and verification of learning outcomes, and the MAIS system for recording study results. Students can borrow book publications published in USM's own edition for individual study subjects for free, that is, they do not have to pay anything for the books. Study in the daily form - attendance method takes place from Tuesday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 13.00
Study in the daily form - combined method and in the external form takes place every other Friday from 3:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 13.00

A flexible learning path through mobilities:
For student mobility, several calls for EU countries and VŠBM contractual partners are regularly announced as part of the Erasmus+ project, while the number of partners is constantly expanding. More about the possibilities of the program can be found on the Erasmus+ page
Studies carried out as part of mobilities are recognized in accordance with the rules described in the directive "SM 05_ERASMUS Programmes".
The school enables the creation of partnerships within the framework of dual education, which is evidenced by the annual selection process for an internship in the Slovak Police Force or the possibility of paid part-time jobs at Košice Airport, in the field of security, etc.

Course evaluation method:
The assessment of each subject is systematic and transparent. The basic rules of assessment are described in the study schedule. Each of the study subjects has a defined so-called educational outcomes (VV), whose method of achievement and subsequent evaluation is determined in advance in the individual Subject Information Sheets (IL). Fulfillment of all VV determined in the IL subject means successful completion of the entire subject. Achieving all educational outcomes of the study program fulfills the profile of the graduate.
Study help:
The USM Student Support Center is available for students, which also includes the support of study advisors. Head of the center PaedDr. Ivana Fedurcová, PhD., MBA e-mail: ivana.fedurcova@vsbm.sk coordinates activities according to the nature of demand among school employees or external professional collaborators of the school (e.g. psychologist). All areas of student support are listed on the center's website. In addition to the support of the center, the student also has a grade or assigned tutor at his disposal, whose task is to resolve or mediate a solution to the student's study needs. In addition to the above, female employees of the school department have been working as an advisory body for students at the level of study for a long time, and are also available on official mobile phone numbers.

Admission procedure:

The basic condition for admission to the third-level study program is the successful completion of a second-level university study in the discipline of Security Sciences, respectively. its foreign equivalent, or continuous second-level university studies related to the topic of the dissertation. The same admission conditions apply to foreign applicants as to applicants from the Slovak Republic.
Another legal condition for admission to study is an admissions interview, during which the applicant presents a project on the topic that he/she has indicated on the application and for which he/she is applying. He clarifies the reasons for his interest in the study, presents his overview of the content of the study program, expectations associated with completing the study, knowledge of the study conditions, including the obligation to pay tuition fees.
At the same time, the members of the admissions committee check the fulfillment of the knowledge, skills and competences of the relevant level of the qualification framework (level 7), which the applicants declare in the application and in the documents attached to it.
In the area of knowledge, deep cross-sectional knowledge in one's specialized field is checked, including knowledge of relations to related fields, especially to security sciences (if coming from another field). Knowledge of theories, methods and procedures applicable in science and research in the given field is checked.
As part of his skills, he should be able to actively acquire information and use it in the development of the field. He should be able to creatively solve tasks using research and development procedures and thus be able to contribute to the development of the field by bringing new approaches.
Within his competences, he can solve problems, coordinate the activities of teams and his own work even in changing conditions. It is important for him to be able to take responsibility for his actions and to be aware of the wider consequences. He must be able to communicate his scientific output with both experts and the lay public.

The www.sustavapovolani.sk and www.kvalifikacie.sk portals do not indicate other occupations for this level of qualification and expertise. However, applications in specific job positions are known from practice. The graduate will be employed as a manager at the top levels of management in the security industry, primarily in the security services of the Slovak Republic, in manufacturing and non-manufacturing business organizations and companies (corporations), territorial administrative units of public administration, legal, scientific research and cultural institutions, and other organizations. He can successfully perform the functions of an analytical and conceptual worker, a scientific or research worker in the field of security, or a university teacher in the field of Security Sciences or thematically related fields.
Rating Remedy:
The first tool for the possibility of correcting the evaluation of the so-called of the "educational output" of the subject are substitute attempts/dates of completion (e.g. repeating the test in the Moodle system or substitute exam date). The second means of correction is the possibility of choosing another examiner according to the data on teachers in the information sheet of the subject, or addressing the relevant year tutor. The third direct remedy is to convene a commission examination according to Art. 18 of the study regulations. Other student suggestions are governed by the VŠBM quality manual, which guarantees an objective evaluation of the suggestion at the level of the Quality Representative and the USM Quality Council. Education ethics:
The rules for observing academic ethics are described in the "USM Code of Ethics" document. Monitoring compliance with academic ethics is also a part of ongoing monitoring of the study program in the form of so-called "Course Completion Questionnaire", which students fill out anonymously in the Moodle system. The evaluation of the questionnaire is governed by the guidelines "SM 09_Monitoring the satisfaction of interested parties" and "SM 02_Ensuring the quality of education".
