The content of the institute's educational and scientific activities generally includes issues of security, starting with the theory of security, in which students learn basic concepts and become more familiar with the range of problems related to the security of the individual and the entire society. Studying the subject "Management of security systems" will enable the student to adopt a systemic approach to solving security problems, be able to navigate the structure of security systems, understand the functions of the security system and its tasks.

An integral part of the security manager's skills is the ability to coordinate activities and cooperate with other entities. But this presupposes knowledge of the competences of cooperating subjects. We are primarily referring to security services, both state and non-state. The content of education within the institute also includes some areas of law, selected issues of legal theory and constitutional law, criminal law, commercial law and labor law. The specific area is represented by the issue of private security services, terrorism and extremism, the operation of private detectives, but also weapons and explosives; also e.g. issues of European security. Much attention is paid to the prevention of not only crime, but also other negative phenomena.

In the field of scientific activity, the institute focuses on solving the problem of illegal actions that threaten the safety of citizens, especially life, health and property. Writes the topics of student science competitions, bachelor's and diploma theses. He participates in the solution of research projects of basic but especially applied research, which is oriented towards the possibilities of prevention of negative phenomena. The results of scientific activity are presented in professional magazines at home and abroad, also at scientific conferences.
